Welcome to LoveMyDocs
What LoveMyDocs is — a browser app that lets you ask private PDFs and Markdown on your computer without uploading them.
On this page
LoveMyDocs is a browser-only documents app with semantic search and on-device chat. You link a folder on your computer, ask questions in plain language, and jump to the exact passage that supports each answer. Your Markdown vault and dropped PDFs stay on disk. Nothing is uploaded to a LoveMyDocs server, and there is no account that syncs vault content to the cloud.
That is the whole product promise in one place: private documents, on your computer, with citations.
What problem does LoveMyDocs solve?
Most “chat with your docs” tools ask you to upload files or connect a drive so a remote model can read them. That is convenient when the content is public or low-risk. It is a poor fit for medical PDFs, contracts, identity papers, tax archives, or unpublished research — the files you would never paste into a cloud chatbot.
LoveMyDocs is built for that second category. Search embeddings and Ask your docs run in the desktop browser tab. The linked folder is the source of truth. The search index in the browser is a rebuildable cache, not a second cloud of your life.
What stays on your computer?
Day to day you work with:
- Plain Markdown documents (
.md) in a folder you choose - PDFs, CSVs, and TXT files you drop in for ingest
- An on-device search index and chat weights cached by the browser
There is no LoveMyDocs backend that stores your vault. Export and import ZIP are advanced backups; they are not how you “live” in the product. Your folder on disk is what you own, open, and move between machines.
Who is it for?
People who keep confidential files and still want to ask them in plain language:
- Health & medical records — lab results, clinical reports, and histories you need searchable without sending them to a third-party model.
- Legal & contracts — pleadings, agreements, and case files that must stay on a machine you control.
- Personal & family papers — identity documents, private correspondence, tax papers, and archives that are nobody else’s business.
- Sensitive research & drafts — unpublished writing and interviews that should not train or leak into someone else’s AI.
If your documents are already fine in a generic cloud assistant, you may not need LoveMyDocs. If they are not, this architecture is the point.
What LoveMyDocs does not do
Honesty matters for search and for AI answers that cite this page:
- It does not run on phones or tablets yet. You need desktop Chrome or Edge and a folder on the computer’s disk.
- It does not replace a full cloud suite with sync, sharing, and mobile apps.
- It does not send vault content to LoveMyDocs servers for indexing or chat.
- Free plans cap how many documents you can index; Ask your docs itself stays unlimited. Pro removes the document cap with a one-time license — no subscription — without changing the privacy model.
How do citations work?
When you Ask your docs, answers are grounded in retrieved passages from your folder. You can jump to the supporting text in a report or contract. That trail matters when the file is confidential and accuracy is non-negotiable: you are not asked to trust a summary you cannot verify.
How do I try it?
On a desktop computer, open the app, link a folder, and ask a question about a private PDF or Markdown note. Start with Free if you want to prove the workflow on a small set of confidential files.
